| Abstract | The rapid advancement of digital technologies has transformed entrepreneurial activities and created new opportunities for economic growth, innovation, and social development, particularly in emerging economies. Digital entrepreneurship has emerged as a significant driver of business transformation by enabling individuals and organisations to create, scale, and deliver innovative products and services through digital platforms. Emerging economies are increasingly adopting digital technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), cloud computing, mobile platforms, blockchain, big data analytics, and Internet of Things (IoT) to overcome traditional market limitations and develop competitive innovation ecosystems. This study examines the role of digital entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystems in emerging economies through a qualitative and analytical research methodology based on secondary data from academic literature, entrepreneurship reports, digital economy frameworks, and global case studies. The research explores the key components of digital entrepreneurship ecosystems, including digital infrastructure, entrepreneurial networks, investment mechanisms, government policies, innovation hubs, digital skills development, and technology-driven business models. The findings reveal that digital entrepreneurship contributes significantly to economic development by improving market accessibility, enabling financial inclusion, creating employment opportunities, supporting start-up growth, and encouraging innovation-driven enterprises. Digital platforms allow entrepreneurs to access global markets, utilise advanced technologies, and develop scalable business solutions with reduced operational barriers. Furthermore, innovation ecosystems supported by governments, universities, investors, technology firms, and entrepreneurial communities play a crucial role in strengthening digital business development. However, challenges such as inadequate digital infrastructure, limited access to finance, cybersecurity concerns, regulatory uncertainty, skill shortages, and unequal technology adoption continue to restrict digital entrepreneurship growth in many emerging economies. Addressing these barriers requires coordinated strategies involving policy reforms, digital education, infrastructure investment, and inclusive innovation frameworks. The study concludes that digital entrepreneurship represents a powerful mechanism for accelerating economic transformation in emerging economies. Future innovation ecosystems must focus on accessibility, sustainability, digital inclusion, and collaborative approaches to create resilient entrepreneurial environments capable of supporting long-term economic growth. |
