Innovative Supply Chain Management Using Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain Technology

Abstract Global supply chains have become increasingly complex due to market volatility, geopolitical uncertainties, increasing customer expectations, and the demand for sustainable business practices. Traditional supply chain management approaches often face limitations related to transparency, operational inefficiency, inaccurate demand forecasting, delayed decision-making, and limited traceability. The integration of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Blockchain Technology has introduced innovative approaches for developing intelligent, secure, transparent, and resilient supply chain ecosystems.
This study presents a comprehensive analysis of innovative supply chain management using Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain Technology. A qualitative analytical methodology based on secondary data is adopted to investigate the role of AI and blockchain in improving supply chain planning, procurement, inventory management, logistics optimisation, supplier coordination, and risk management. The study examines AI applications including predictive analytics, machine learning-based demand forecasting, autonomous decision-making, and intelligent logistics, while blockchain applications such as decentralised data management, smart contracts, and product traceability are explored.
The findings reveal that AI significantly enhances supply chain efficiency through accurate forecasting, automation, and real-time decision support, whereas blockchain improves transparency, security, trust, and accountability among supply chain stakeholders. The integration of both technologies enables intelligent supply networks capable of adapting to disruptions, reducing operational costs, improving sustainability, and strengthening customer confidence.
Despite these advantages, challenges remain concerning implementation costs, data privacy, technological complexity, interoperability, cybersecurity risks, and organisational readiness. Future research should focus on AI-driven autonomous supply chains, blockchain-enabled sustainable ecosystems, digital twins, federated learning, and human–machine collaboration models.
The study concludes that the convergence of Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain Technology represents a transformative approach for next-generation supply chain management by enabling intelligent, transparent, resilient, and sustainable global supply networks.
