Abstract Innovation ecosystems have become fundamental drivers of global competitiveness by fostering collaboration among governments, industries, universities, research institutions, start-ups, investors, and civil society. In the era of digital transformation and the knowledge economy, sustainable economic growth increasingly depends on an ecosystem that supports innovation, entrepreneurship, technology transfer, and multidisciplinary collaboration. The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data Analytics, Cloud Computing, Blockchain, Industry 5.0, Digital Platforms, Open Innovation, Business Incubators, Technology Parks, Smart Manufacturing, Knowledge Management, Venture Capital, and Research and Development (R&D) has significantly enhanced innovation capacity and international competitiveness.
This study presents a comprehensive analysis of The Role of Innovation Ecosystems in Driving Global Competitiveness. A qualitative analytical research methodology based on secondary data is employed to investigate innovation ecosystem frameworks, collaborative innovation models, digital entrepreneurship, technology commercialisation, and policy-driven innovation strategies. The research evaluates how innovation ecosystems contribute to industrial productivity, economic resilience, technological advancement, workforce development, sustainable entrepreneurship, and international competitiveness.
The findings indicate that robust innovation ecosystems significantly improve research productivity, technology adoption, start-up growth, industrial innovation, knowledge exchange, investment attraction, and sustainable economic development. Artificial Intelligence enhances innovation management through predictive analytics and intelligent decision support, while digital platforms facilitate collaboration among ecosystem stakeholders. Industry 5.0 strengthens human-centric innovation, and blockchain improves intellectual property protection and transparent innovation networks.
Despite these opportunities, challenges remain concerning funding constraints, fragmented policy frameworks, unequal access to innovation resources, digital inequality, talent shortages, intellectual property management, and cybersecurity risks. Future research should investigate AI-driven innovation ecosystems, cross-border digital innovation networks, sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystems, quantum-enabled innovation platforms, and resilient global innovation governance models.
The study concludes that innovation ecosystems provide the strategic foundation for strengthening global competitiveness by integrating technology, collaboration, entrepreneurship, research excellence, and sustainable development.
