Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation for Sustainable Socioeconomic Development: A Multidisciplinary Perspective

Abstract Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital innovation have become powerful catalysts for sustainable socioeconomic development by transforming industries, improving public services, fostering inclusive economic growth, and accelerating progress towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The convergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning (DL), Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data Analytics, Cloud Computing, Blockchain, Digital Twin Technology, Edge Computing, Industry 5.0, Smart Cities, E-Governance, Financial Technology (FinTech), Digital Healthcare, Precision Agriculture, and Renewable Energy Technologies is reshaping the global socioeconomic landscape through intelligent decision-making, resource optimisation, and digital transformation.
This study presents a comprehensive analysis of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation for Sustainable Socioeconomic Development: A Multidisciplinary Perspective. A qualitative analytical research methodology based on secondary data is employed to investigate AI-enabled digital ecosystems, innovation frameworks, sustainable development strategies, and multidisciplinary applications across healthcare, education, agriculture, governance, finance, manufacturing, transportation, and environmental management. The research evaluates how digital technologies contribute to economic productivity, social inclusion, environmental sustainability, and institutional resilience.
The findings indicate that AI-driven digital innovation significantly improves public service delivery, healthcare accessibility, educational quality, agricultural productivity, financial inclusion, industrial efficiency, environmental monitoring, and evidence-based policymaking. Artificial Intelligence enables predictive analytics and intelligent automation, while Big Data Analytics supports strategic planning through real-time insights. Blockchain enhances transparency and trust in digital transactions, whereas Digital Twin Technology enables simulation-based infrastructure planning and sustainable urban development.
Despite these opportunities, challenges remain concerning digital inequality, algorithmic bias, cybersecurity threats, data privacy, infrastructure limitations, workforce reskilling, ethical AI governance, and regulatory harmonisation. Future research should investigate AI-native sustainable development frameworks, federated digital governance models, quantum-enhanced socioeconomic analytics, explainable AI for public policy, and resilient digital ecosystems supporting equitable global development.
The study concludes that Artificial Intelligence and digital innovation provide a strategic foundation for sustainable socioeconomic development by integrating intelligent technologies, collaborative innovation, responsible governance, and multidisciplinary expertise to achieve long-term economic prosperity, social well-being, and environmental resilience.
