| Abstract | The accelerating pace of scientific discovery and technological innovation has transformed the landscape of multidisciplinary research, enabling unprecedented collaboration across science, engineering, healthcare, social sciences, business, environmental studies, and public policy. Emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Big Data Analytics, Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain, cloud computing, quantum computing, Digital Twin technology, biotechnology, robotics, nanotechnology, and advanced materials are increasingly converging to address complex global challenges. These technologies are driving innovation in healthcare, smart manufacturing, climate resilience, renewable energy, precision agriculture, digital governance, education, transportation, cybersecurity, and sustainable urban development. Consequently, multidisciplinary research has become a cornerstone for achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by integrating diverse knowledge systems, fostering innovation ecosystems, and promoting evidence-based policymaking. This study investigates future trends in advanced multidisciplinary research through a qualitative and analytical research methodology based on secondary data collected from peer-reviewed journals, international scientific reports, government publications, policy documents, and interdisciplinary case studies. The study examines the convergence of emerging technologies, collaborative research ecosystems, open science practices, digital transformation, sustainable innovation, and global research partnerships. It further analyses interdisciplinary applications of AI, biotechnology, digital health, Industry 5.0, renewable energy systems, smart cities, cybersecurity, circular economy practices, and intelligent decision support systems. The findings indicate that multidisciplinary research significantly accelerates scientific innovation, enhances technological competitiveness, improves evidence-based decision-making, strengthens international collaboration, and supports sustainable socio-economic development. Digital research infrastructures, AI-assisted scientific discovery, high-performance computing, open-access knowledge sharing, and data-driven research methodologies are transforming how complex scientific problems are investigated and solved. The integration of digital technologies with multidisciplinary collaboration also promotes inclusive innovation, responsible research practices, and sustainable technological advancement. Despite these opportunities, multidisciplinary research faces challenges related to data interoperability, ethical AI governance, research reproducibility, cybersecurity, intellectual property management, funding disparities, digital inequality, and interdisciplinary communication barriers. The study concludes that strengthening global research collaboration, investing in digital research infrastructure, promoting responsible innovation, enhancing research capacity, and adopting open science principles are essential for advancing multidisciplinary knowledge and addressing future global challenges. |
