| Abstract | The rapid evolution of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and Edge Computing has transformed the development of next-generation smart systems capable of autonomous decision-making, real-time data processing, intelligent automation, and adaptive service delivery. The convergence of these technologies has enabled innovative applications across healthcare, manufacturing, transportation, agriculture, smart cities, energy management, environmental monitoring, and industrial automation. Unlike traditional cloud-centric architectures, edge-enabled intelligent systems process data closer to its source, reducing latency, improving bandwidth utilization, enhancing privacy, and supporting mission-critical applications. Artificial Intelligence further enhances these systems by enabling predictive analytics, machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, and intelligent decision support, while IoT facilitates seamless communication among interconnected devices and sensors. This study examines the integration of Artificial Intelligence, IoT, and Edge Computing in developing next-generation smart systems using a multidisciplinary perspective. Employing a qualitative and analytical research methodology based on secondary data from computer science, engineering, information systems, communication technologies, and industrial automation literature, the study explores architectural frameworks, enabling technologies, industrial applications, security challenges, and future research directions. The research also evaluates the role of intelligent edge architectures in improving computational efficiency, energy optimization, cybersecurity, and sustainable digital infrastructure. The findings indicate that integrating AI, IoT, and Edge Computing significantly enhances system responsiveness, operational efficiency, scalability, and intelligent automation while reducing communication delays and cloud dependency. However, successful implementation requires robust cybersecurity frameworks, standardized communication protocols, ethical AI governance, interoperability, and advanced edge intelligence. The study concludes that next-generation smart systems represent a foundational technological paradigm supporting Industry 5.0, digital transformation, and sustainable intelligent infrastructure. |
