Multidisciplinary Approaches to Climate Change Mitigation and Environmental Protection

Abstract Climate change has emerged as one of the most significant global challenges of the twenty-first century, affecting ecosystems, biodiversity, human health, food security, water resources, economic development, and social well-being. Rising greenhouse gas emissions, deforestation, industrialization, urbanization, unsustainable resource utilization, and environmental degradation have accelerated global warming and intensified the frequency of extreme weather events. Addressing these interconnected challenges requires multidisciplinary approaches that integrate environmental science, engineering, economics, public policy, information technology, renewable energy, agriculture, urban planning, public health, and social sciences. Emerging technologies—including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing, the Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data Analytics, Digital Twins, climate modeling, renewable energy systems, carbon capture technologies, and smart environmental monitoring—are transforming climate change mitigation and environmental protection strategies. These innovations support evidence-based policymaking, sustainable resource management, biodiversity conservation, carbon emission reduction, and climate resilience.
This study investigates multidisciplinary approaches to climate change mitigation and environmental protection through a comprehensive analytical perspective. Using a qualitative research methodology based on secondary data from environmental science, climate policy, engineering, economics, ecology, public health, and sustainability literature, the study examines technological innovations, multidisciplinary collaborations, mitigation strategies, adaptation mechanisms, governance frameworks, implementation challenges, and future research directions. Particular emphasis is placed on renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, circular economy, green infrastructure, ecosystem restoration, environmental governance, and digital technologies supporting climate resilience.
The findings indicate that multidisciplinary collaboration significantly enhances climate mitigation efforts by improving policy coordination, technological innovation, environmental monitoring, resource efficiency, ecosystem conservation, and sustainable development. However, financial constraints, technological disparities, governance complexity, public awareness, international cooperation, and implementation capacity remain significant barriers to achieving global climate objectives. The study concludes that integrating scientific innovation, sustainable engineering, digital transformation, responsible governance, and community participation provides a comprehensive pathway toward effective climate change mitigation and long-term environmental protection.
