Abstract Digital innovation has become a fundamental driver of global competitiveness in the knowledge economy by transforming how organizations create value, improve productivity, develop innovation capabilities, and sustain competitive advantage. The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data Analytics, Cloud Computing, Internet of Things (IoT), Blockchain, Digital Twins, Edge Computing, 5G communication, cybersecurity, and intelligent automation has reshaped business models, industrial ecosystems, public governance, and international trade. Organizations that successfully integrate digital technologies into strategic management, innovation processes, knowledge management, and decision-making achieve greater operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, resilience, and long-term sustainable growth. The knowledge economy increasingly depends on digital infrastructure, human capital, research and development (R&D), entrepreneurship, innovation ecosystems, and digital collaboration to enhance national and organizational competitiveness.
This study investigates the relationship between digital innovation and global competitiveness in the knowledge economy through a multidisciplinary perspective. Using a qualitative and analytical research methodology based on secondary data from economics, business management, information systems, engineering, public policy, innovation studies, and digital transformation literature, the study examines digital innovation frameworks, technological enablers, innovation ecosystems, knowledge management strategies, organizational capabilities, implementation challenges, and future research directions. Particular emphasis is placed on Artificial Intelligence, digital entrepreneurship, Industry 5.0, smart manufacturing, digital platforms, sustainable innovation, and human capital development.
The findings indicate that digital innovation significantly enhances productivity, organizational agility, innovation capacity, knowledge sharing, global market competitiveness, and economic resilience. Advanced digital technologies enable data-driven decision-making, collaborative innovation, intelligent automation, personalized services, and sustainable industrial development. However, challenges such as digital inequality, cybersecurity risks, regulatory complexity, technological disruption, workforce skill gaps, innovation investment constraints, and data governance remain major barriers to achieving sustainable competitiveness. The study concludes that integrating digital innovation with knowledge management, responsible governance, digital infrastructure, and interdisciplinary collaboration provides a comprehensive pathway for strengthening global competitiveness in the knowledge economy.
