Technology-Driven Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Emerging Economies

| Abstract | Technology-driven entrepreneurship has become an important catalyst for economic transformation, employment generation, innovation, and social development in emerging economies. The rapid diffusion of digital technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, cloud computing, mobile platforms, fintech, blockchain, the Internet of Things, and digital marketplaces, has reduced certain barriers to entrepreneurship while creating new opportunities for innovative business models. However, entrepreneurs in emerging economies continue to face challenges related to access to finance, digital infrastructure, entrepreneurial skills, regulatory uncertainty, market fragmentation, cybersecurity, and unequal access to technology. This study examines the role of technology-driven entrepreneurship and innovation in emerging economies and analyses the factors influencing entrepreneurial development. A qualitative and analytical methodology based on secondary literature is employed to examine technological innovation, digital entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial ecosystems, financial inclusion, innovation capabilities, and institutional support. The study develops an integrated framework connecting technological capabilities, entrepreneurial competencies, ecosystem support, market opportunities, and innovation outcomes. The analysis indicates that technology can reduce transaction costs, expand market access, facilitate digital financial services, accelerate product development, and enable entrepreneurs to reach geographically dispersed customers. Nevertheless, technological adoption alone does not guarantee entrepreneurial success. Strong institutions, investment in digital infrastructure, education, innovation networks, access to finance, and supportive public policies are necessary to translate technological opportunities into sustainable enterprises. The study concludes that technology-driven entrepreneurship can contribute significantly to inclusive economic development in emerging economies when innovation ecosystems are designed to address both technological and structural barriers. |
