Artificial Intelligence, Knowledge Management, and Organizational Learning

Abstract Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly transforming how organizations create, capture, organize, share, and apply knowledge. The convergence of AI with Knowledge Management (KM) has created new opportunities for organizations to improve knowledge discovery, decision-making, organizational memory, innovation, and employee learning. AI-enabled systems can process large volumes of structured and unstructured information, identify patterns, generate insights, automate knowledge-intensive activities, and facilitate access to organizational knowledge. At the same time, the increasing use of generative AI introduces new questions concerning knowledge quality, human expertise, intellectual property, organizational dependence, and responsible governance.
This study examines the relationship between Artificial Intelligence, Knowledge Management, and Organizational Learning from an interdisciplinary perspective. Using a qualitative and conceptual research methodology based on scholarly literature, organizational studies, and contemporary research on AI and knowledge management, the study analyses how AI influences knowledge creation, acquisition, storage, sharing, and application. It further investigates the role of AI in organizational learning, innovation, employee development, and strategic decision-making. The analysis suggests that AI can strengthen organizational learning by reducing information-search costs, identifying knowledge gaps, supporting personalized learning, and facilitating organizational memory. However, excessive dependence on automated systems may weaken human expertise, critical thinking, and tacit knowledge transfer. The study concludes that organizations should adopt a human-centred AI-KM framework in which artificial intelligence augments rather than replaces human knowledge, judgment, creativity, and collaborative learning.
