Advanced Robotics and Autonomous Systems for Healthcare and Industrial Applications

| Abstract | Advanced robotics and autonomous systems are increasingly transforming healthcare and industrial environments by combining robotics, artificial intelligence, computer vision, sensors, machine learning, and real-time decision-making. In healthcare, robotic technologies are being used in surgical assistance, rehabilitation, elderly care, diagnostics, medication delivery, logistics, and hospital operations. In industrial environments, autonomous robots support manufacturing, warehousing, inspection, material handling, maintenance, and collaborative human–robot workflows. This study examines the development and applications of advanced robotics and autonomous systems across healthcare and industrial sectors. A qualitative and conceptual research methodology based on secondary literature is employed to analyse technological capabilities, application areas, benefits, limitations, and future directions. The analysis indicates that robotics can improve precision, operational efficiency, workplace safety, repeatability, and service availability. Autonomous systems further enable robots to operate with reduced human intervention and adapt to changing environments. However, challenges involving safety, reliability, cybersecurity, interoperability, cost, workforce adaptation, ethical responsibility, and regulatory compliance remain significant. The study proposes an integrated human-centred robotics framework combining autonomous intelligence, sensing, safety mechanisms, human supervision, and continuous system monitoring. The study concludes that the future of robotics will depend not only on increasing machine autonomy but also on developing trustworthy systems capable of operating safely and effectively alongside humans. |
