Artificial Intelligence and Strategic Management in Digitally Disrupted Markets

| Abstract | Artificial Intelligence (AI) is fundamentally reshaping strategic management by altering how organizations analyse markets, allocate resources, develop competitive strategies, engage customers, and respond to rapidly changing business environments. Digitally disrupted markets are characterized by accelerated technological change, evolving customer expectations, platform-based competition, data-driven business models, and shortened innovation cycles. In such environments, conventional strategic-management approaches may be insufficient because decisions increasingly depend on real-time information, predictive analytics, and adaptive capabilities. This study examines the role of AI in strategic management under conditions of digital disruption through a qualitative and comparative analysis of contemporary research. It explores AI-enabled market intelligence, predictive analytics, strategic decision-making, dynamic capabilities, innovation management, customer analytics, supply-chain strategy, and competitive intelligence. The study also examines organizational challenges associated with AI adoption, including data quality, algorithmic bias, cybersecurity, employee resistance, organizational capabilities, ethical concerns, and dependence on technology providers. The analysis suggests that AI can strengthen strategic agility by enabling organizations to identify emerging opportunities, anticipate market changes, optimize resources, and develop more responsive business models. However, technological adoption alone does not create sustainable competitive advantage. Organizations must develop complementary capabilities involving leadership, human expertise, organizational learning, data governance, innovation culture, and responsible AI governance. The study concludes that competitive advantage in digitally disrupted markets will increasingly depend on the ability to combine AI-enabled intelligence with human strategic judgment and organizational adaptability. |
