Artificial Intelligence and the Transformation of Corporate Financial Management

| Abstract | Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming corporate financial management by changing how organizations conduct financial analysis, forecasting, risk management, reporting, compliance, treasury operations, and strategic decision-making. Traditional financial management has historically depended on periodic reporting, manual data processing, spreadsheet-based analysis, and retrospective evaluation. The emergence of machine learning, natural language processing, intelligent automation, generative AI, and predictive analytics enables organizations to process large volumes of structured and unstructured financial information and generate insights in increasingly real time. This study examines the transformative role of AI in corporate financial management through a qualitative and comparative analysis of existing literature. It explores applications of AI in financial forecasting, budgeting, fraud detection, credit assessment, cash-flow management, investment decisions, financial reporting, auditing, tax management, and corporate risk management. The study argues that AI can improve financial decision-making by increasing analytical speed, reducing repetitive manual activities, identifying patterns, and supporting more accurate forecasts. However, AI adoption also introduces challenges involving data quality, cybersecurity, algorithmic bias, explainability, regulatory compliance, model risk, privacy, and excessive dependence on automated systems. The study emphasizes that successful AI adoption requires integration between technological capabilities, financial expertise, governance mechanisms, and managerial judgment. AI should therefore be viewed not simply as an automation technology but as a strategic capability that can reshape the role of the corporate finance function. The study concludes that organizations that combine AI with strong financial governance, skilled professionals, reliable data, and human oversight can develop more agile, predictive, and resilient financial management systems. |
