Digital Innovation for Climate Resilience: Integrating Predictive Intelligence, Environmental Data and Adaptive Technologies

Abstract Climate change is increasing the frequency and intensity of environmental hazards, creating significant challenges for communities, infrastructure, economies, and ecosystems. Digital technologies provide new opportunities to strengthen climate resilience by enabling continuous environmental monitoring, predictive modelling, risk assessment, early-warning systems, and adaptive decision-making. This study examines how predictive intelligence, environmental data, Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, remote sensing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital twins, and geospatial analytics can be integrated to support climate-resilient development. A qualitative and conceptual research methodology based on secondary literature is adopted to examine the relationship between digital innovation and climate adaptation. The study proposes an integrated framework in which environmental data are collected through satellites, sensors, weather stations, connected infrastructure, and community-based sources and subsequently analysed using AI and predictive models. The resulting insights can support early warning, disaster preparedness, infrastructure planning, water-resource management, agricultural adaptation, and urban resilience. The analysis demonstrates that digital innovation can shift climate adaptation from reactive responses towards predictive and continuously adaptive strategies. However, challenges involving data quality, interoperability, digital inequality, cybersecurity, privacy, technological costs, model uncertainty, and institutional capacity can restrict implementation. The study concludes that digital technologies should be integrated with local knowledge, climate science, public institutions, and community participation. Building climate resilience requires not only advanced prediction capabilities but also the institutional capacity to translate environmental intelligence into timely and equitable action.
